Steps To Build A New House

To help you prepare and understand your new house construction, this article shows the typical steps your builder will take during the construction of your new house and will help keep you abreast of what happens at key stages.

Before a builder can start the construction of any project, local government must approve the design and provide permits for everything from start to finish including electrical work, and plumbing. Once approval is acquired, physical construction can begin.

Site preparation and foundation work are performed after the local authority approval. This can be done manually or via the use of certain machines such as bulldozer. to cut down bushes and pull down heavy trees, and completely clear the site. 

The temporary wooden work begins and the first each measurements are done to layout in complete the building on the floor. This is also called the first interpretation of the architect design on site.

The top soil will be excavated and the trenches where the foundation will be installed, If your house will need a well it must be dug at this time. Each hole is excavated according to it measurement and filled with concrete according to builder’s measurements. After certain days, water will be poured on it, blocks are set on the concrete, the poles are set and anti-termite is added, followed setting of utilities such as plumbing, electricity,  etc.  Sand filling is done to level the foundation. Thereafter, water is poured on the leveling for solidity and not to sink. 

Form work

Form work is the another temporary wooden work round the rectangular shape of the foundation, then the second floor work is done by pouring concrete to full the forming. Once the concrete is poured it must remain for certain days to be cured before the commencement of the second interpretation of the architect design.   . 

2. Finish  Forming

Floor Method, Walls, Roof Method Are done to finish

The covering Applied to Exterior Walls, are removed, the floor system, the block forming, walls and roof systems are done to complete  The Lintel forming is done and the shelter removed. The door and window frames are installed. Tiny drainage is constructed round the building for overhead water to pass and not to destroy the structure.

3. Finish  Plumbing And  Electrical HVAC

Pipes and Wires will be installed.


If the skeleton is finished, opening cover and roofing sheets can be put to their places. Alongside, the electrical and plumbing crew starts, running pipes and wires via the interior walls, ceilings and floors, as well as water supply pipes are installed. The air conditioning, insulator and ports for electronics are considered to be installed; the surrounding light will also be installed. At this time the dry wall or plaster wall/gypsum board can be requested to be on the site

Finish Septic and other Tanks 

Pipes in septic tank are installed and covered. The opening surrounding is filled with sand and leveled. Storex tank pipes are installed. 

4. Mortal finishing

Mortal is sprinkled at both the inside and outside of the building walls. This is called plastered. Storex tank also is plastered if constructed with blocks the plaster board is used to hold the mortal on ground level

The house is painted completely, the primary coat and final coat of paints are applied and stucco stones are installed

6. Finish car pack and Driveway

Car pack is completely done and floor stones are set The walk ways are completely tile so that motors can drive in easily, why this is delayed is that the house owner’s motor brings mod and dirty the walkways at the initial stage of the construction.  Another reason is that heavy motors are bringing materials and working on the site which could damage the walk ways. Whereas some builders prefer to pour the walk way at the process of installing foundation.

7. Finish Toilet and install equipments

The toilets are rough plastered and wall tiles are done to complete. The sewers are installed; the washing base and stool pots are properly installed. 

8. Finish Mechanical

The electricity supplier porch is done to complete. Light supplier is brought into it seat and connected to the building.

9. Finish furniture

The house furnitures are installed, Chairs, table and Stools are brought into the house and are set properly, the cabinet, and wall drop are place in normal places in the bedroom. The ironing Tables are well set.

10. Planting of Garden

Flower flasks are made either concrete made or constructed with bricks. Flowers are planted and in a house of large compound field are planted

11. Fencing 

Many builders believe in first constructing the fence of the house before the house foundation begins but it could be constructed at the final stage of the construction work especially if the house owner wants to get into the house quickly. The fence is constructed and gates installed.

12. Final work

Your builder will guide you on how to perfectly use all the various home equipment and not to get damaged. He or she will explain your responsibility for maintenance and upkeep. This is also an opportunity to check all the items and ensure their proper performance.
